Such beautiful reflections, Jenni. The past and present felt so intertwined, the two families becoming one in your memories and love. And those photos! Remarkable!

"Lately, I’ve found myself wondering if it is possible, in some way, to inherit our faith? For aspects of a certain tradition be passed down, in our DNA, or as some form of spiritual memory?"

Such an interesting question, I have wondered the same thing at times. My great, great, great grandfather (My grandmother's grandfather...did I get that right??) helped found the Swedish Methodist Church in Texas. My grandparents' love for music lies deep in my own love of music. Despite my dad's agnosticism during my growing up years and until 5 years or so before he died, it felt like I was born with a sense of God's presence and love for me.

Also resonated with love is letting go, and yet not letting go. True love is never coerced. True love of God, of parents, of children is always generous, abundant and free. Love reading about the love and legacy of your family, Jenni.

Poignant as well as light-hearted. It captures your heart, your journey of discovery, and your love to share this with your own daughter. Could read it again and again~but then we share that Italian background and adoption is woven into both of our lives.

Love this story of passing on a heritage to your daughter.

Love, Janis
