This reflection is priceless. I love when I come across the handwriting of my parents, and reading about how seeing your mum’s handwriting smooth and unaffected by the ravages of time and memory loss really hit me hard. That book needs a special place on the shelf. I hope you consult it for many years in the future when you have special events to plan.

How wonderful to find that slip of paper that brought back those special memories. That line about her smooth handwriting of yesteryear just brought a lump to my throat 😢. Thinking of you as you celebrate the beautiful and grieve all that is lost.

Thank you so much, Sue. That’s just it. As you say, it’s wonderful how something as simple as a forgotten scrap of paper can become such treasure. And the most beautiful “accident if time” to have discovered it then, when I did. Much love.

Jenni -- what a moment to live again with your young and vibrant mother in the space of memory that slip of paper forged, even as her own memory is wobbly and frail. Such a gift and so beautifully written. Praying for you in this season, friend.

What a beautiful post. Rediscovering your lovely Mum by reading the old lists of party games written in her handwriting is so moving. I find that when I find a shopping list written in my Dad's handwriting or an entry in his diary.

Thank you so much for this, it brought back many happy memories of seventies and eighties Christmases. Why were they so much more fun back then? And as for the twiglets... count me in! xx
